Whānau Chromebook Training was raised by visitors to the Homes stall at the Papakura Street to Place Event. Parents and whānau expressed a desire to learn about how their children use the devices and about how they could support their children's learning and safety while using them. It was agreed that the first step would be for the whānau champions to do their own learning around these things so they started attending sessions with the Kootuitui Education Programme Leader. During this time, they also approached school principals to discuss the idea and possibly organise the first training sessions at schools. In May and June 2017 sessions were successfully facilitated by whānau and the EPL jointly at a number of cluster schools. Here are photos from these first training sessions.
